Crafting in California.
The CHA show is what I have been living and breathing all month. It is always so inspiring to see the new trends and products that pop up at CHA.

I am already in California and was thrilled to be asked to teach a Zentangle® class at the ARTbar in Santa Anna http://bit.ly/7hPfT5 , a wonderful art studio where creativity really flows.
Stay tuned to my blog next week I will be posting about all the fabulous products and developments introduced at the CHA Supershow and Tradeshow.
Patterns and Tips
This week I’m including a pattern for your collection of patterns for Zentangle®.

I love doing small Zentangle® designs.
Try this meditative style of drawing as you create fun patterns.
Zentangle #3 - W2 *
1. Draw small squares in a section.
2. Draw squares in evenly spaced rows.
3. Connect the squares with lines - one left, one right, etc.
4. Connect the squares in the other direction to make the warp
and weft pattern.

I just tried this pattern last night and had a bit of success with it. It's a tricky one, though. Thanks so much for the lovely class. I've had ink on my fingers ever since

Not to worry Tami. This pattern seems to be one of the toughest to accomplish. In most of my classes we end up doing a modified version of it, and it always looks great. Glad you enjoyed the class.

Thank you so much for sharing these patterns. I've been creating many of my own, but I still love discovering ones that someone else has created!

Youth would be an ideal state if it came a little later in life.

Hi, suzanne. Your W-2 drawing instructions don't show up in your blog anymore.

I'm sorry not sure what you are referring to..w-2 drawing instructions? Is it a Zentangle pattern?

I see now, it is the Zentangle of the week instructions. I'm not sure how to help you, I have looked on several different computers and they do show up for me. Could it be your browser or operating system?

Thank you for sharing this! I looked and looked at this, trying to figure out how to do it, but it looks so easy now that you've explained it!

Oh, this is SO helpful. I have been trying to draw basket weave for a long long time, even before I knew about doodling, tangling and zentangle but it was such a stress!!
This just simplifies it no end.
THANK YOU!

That's what I love about Zentangle, things that look so difficult to draw become easy when broken down into steps.

Thank you for such marvelous clear visual techniques. I appreciate your blog and the wonderful world of Zentangles. Got my first kit for Christmas after learning a lot on the world wide web and you have been one of the best resources. Thanks again.

I finely tried this pattern but I was thrown off by the lines; it was confusing me. It would be more clear if you put each step in red like with the other lessons. But you did say to connect the squares in the other direction so I will do that.Thank you. K.

True Kahna, this should have been shown in red as well. Another tip is to turn your paper when you switch from vertical to horizontal lines. I teach this one a lot, it does seem to be one of the more confusing patterns...one you can easily get lost in. Just keep practicing!
