Zentangle in Sante Fe
Every year I make time to go to Santa Fe, I meet my two sisters and we set out to explore every nook and cranny of this historic town. We always have to make stops at Artisan , Guadalupes Fun Rubber Stamps , and The Ark .

From a previous post you know I was invited to give a class on Zentangle at Artisan while I was visiting Santa Fe. Artisan is the most fabulous art shop, brimming with all kinds of art materials and full of fun, eager students. Each student in my class created their own mini work on Zentangle tiles I had purchased from the Zentangle website. We also discussed using watercolor with Zentangle (one of my favorite applications for tangles) and hosting a bookmark or postcard swap.

Artisan has been very active in promoting Zentangle, they carry all three of the Zentangle books. It was wonderful to hear they had actually sold out of the Zentangle books and had to reorder numerous times...this tells me Zentangle is continuing to grow and more and more people are finding it a beneficial practice.

While I was in Santa Fe I also visited the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology. I took this picture of Anasazi pottery, the black and white repetitive patterns remind me of Zentangle. I seem to see tangles everywhere I go, is anyone else as obsessed as I am with finding tangle patterns?

Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps is located in the heart of historic Santa Fe, they carry a beautiful selection of stamps. I always look forward to stopping in to see what's new and visiting with Lee. The Ark, was voted Santa Fe's best bookstore. They carry some really interesting books, music and gifts related to spiritual traditions, meditation and other alternative practices. Both of these amazing shops are a must see if you visit Santa Fe.
Zentangle of the week, enjoy and create!!

Yes, I'm as obsessed as you are about seeing zentangle patterns everywhere. But it's a wonderful obsession. I think it might make us even more aware of art and design all around us. And designs that can be stolen from nature, ancient man, etc. Thanks, Suzanne, for introducing me to this obsession!

You are so welcome Barbara, glad you are enjoying it too. I agree, an unexpected benefit from Zentangle is the awareness of the patterns in everything around us. I hear this from so many people.

Hi Suzanne, love the Anasazi pottery photo. And what a great Zentangle, it's almost Art Deco.
Yes, you could say I'm obsessed with tangle patterns! Is Black Box one of your own, or is it considered one of the official Zentangle ones? I'm trying to keep them straight for my tanglepatterns.com website and since I'm not a CZT, some of this is guesswork.
Thanks so much for your weekly postings!
Cheers, Linda

I know Linda, I adore the pottery. The Black box is indeed one of my tangles. It is usually noted in the books if I am using one of Rick and Maria's tangles. i do have them look over each book before it is published just to make sure proper credit is given. I am so impressed with your organization. Do you have some of your own tangles?

I must confess I don't have your books yet, so my apologies for the question!
I have a couple of sketches for patterns but haven't had time to develop them - haven't even had time for my own Zentangles. I'm pretty occupied keeping up with patterns for the site and that's so much fun itself.
Everyone involved with Zentangles is SO wonderful and supportive. Thanks for your compliment!
Cheers, Linda
