Plein Air Painting in Taos
Leigh Gusterson is a remarkable plein air painter who specializes in depicting the colorful, vibrant landscapes in Taos, New Mexico.

Leigh Gusterson
She hosts many plein air workshops in Taos every year, I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time off recently and attend one of her workshops.

Max's salvage yard
Every day was a new adventure, one of my favorite sessions was held at Max's salvage yard in Penasco, a very small town on the high road to Taos. Max has quite a collection of old cars, trucks (one of my favorite subjects) and school buses strewn about his property.

One of my old truck paintings
Leigh also has an affinity for these rusty, worn, metal monuments to the past and they are used quite frequently in her own paintings. I encourage you to take a look at her website, and if you ever get a chance take one of her workshops I would highly recommend it!

I also love to take pictures of old churches, this is one of the paintings I did while in Taos.

This photo will soon be another church painting, I have begun the painting but it is not yet finished.
Zentangle of the week, enjoy and create!!
