Zentangle® with Color

View a YouTube, Marie Browning shares how she creates her fabulously beautiful and colorful Zentangle® designs with dual-tip Tombow markers.

My friend and fellow artist, Sharon Glasner, shared a fabulous idea for her collection of  Zentangle® books.  She took them to a printer and had them punched and bound into a spiral format (see the spiral binding on the left edge of the book in the photo).  This a wonderful idea!  Sharon actually bound-up 'Zentangle for Quilting' and 'Totally Tangled' TOGETHER. When you bind-up several of the Zentangle books together, you have only one or two easy-to-carry books.  I love this idea because no matter what surface you work on, the book will easily lay flat so you can refer to the tangle patterns as you draw.

Spiral Zentangle books, Sharon bound two books together.

If you are crazy for color you really must see Marie Browning's Zentangle® creations.  Marie uses Tombow Dual-Tip Markers, Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Color Pens, Glimmer Mists  as well as colored pencils to create beautiful and colorful Zentangle art work. Be sure to watch her You Tube to see how easy and amazing this process can be.

In her new book Time to Tangle with Colors Marie guides you through both the direct and indirect method of adding color to your tangles as well as splash backgrounds and mask and spray techniques.  Cool stuff!

Quick Tip: The new 'AlphaTangle' book arrived today! Sandy Steen Bartholomew did a fabulous job of updating her amazing pocket-size book to include a few instructions along with illustrations of the entire alphabet illustrated with 101 patterns. You can order the new book from d-originals.com or call 817-877-0067. Happy tangling!

Zentangle of the week, enjoy and create!!

I am so totally fascinated and hooked on Zentangling. I cannot draw but I am getting great results. I zentangle every night and practice a few designs. I then make a tile with the new designs I learned. The books that Design Originals have printed are wonderfully instructive and I recommend them to anyone new to this art form.
